Possibly Indian; late 19th/early 20th century. One shoot of purple wool after each row of knots is unusual and the precise place in which this carpet was woven is not known. Its design is heavily influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement which occurred in north-west Europe in the latter part of the 19th century.
