Pair of Important Biscuit Porcelain Vases with Putti
Porcelain de Sèvres, France, Second Half of the 19th Century
A fine pair of neoclassical-style biscuit porcelain vases, each of baluster form and decorated with swags of garlands, twin ring handles, and fluted domed lids. The vases are raised on square bases supported by two finely modelled putti seated at the base. The matte white finish characteristic of biscuit porcelain enhances the sculptural quality of the forms.
