The lids are finely painted with chinoiserie court scenes in vibrant colors, in the characteristic romantic style associated with Jacob Petit. The set is preserved in its original walnut marquetry presentation box lined with red silk moiré. A rare and charming example of 19th-century French taste and craftsmanship.
