Pottery jug and basin by Émond Lachenal (1855–1930), France, circa 1880.
The jug is pear-shaped with a tall spout and simple handle. The stopper is crown-shaped. The basin is tapered and decorated in polychrome with simurgh and cloud motifs in the Chinese style.
Both pieces are printed with Lachenal's inscription on the basin bases. Diameter of basin: 23.5 cm. Height of jug: 23.5 cm (with stopper).
